Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
Grablet is a Chrome extension for taking, editing and sharing screenshots and screen recordings. We built it to keep your content on your own computer. This policy explains what data Grablet handles, when anything leaves your browser, and your choices.
The short version
- Your screenshots and recordings are created and edited on your computer.
- Grablet has no ads, no tracking and no analytics, and we never sell your data.
- Data leaves your browser only when you use a feature that needs it: Google Lens search, Save to Google Drive, or buying Pro.
Data stored on your computer
- Recent captures: your 10 most recent screenshots are kept in your browser's local storage so the editor can open them. Older ones are deleted automatically.
- Settings: your preferred tool, colors, export presets, timer and recording options.
- Pro status: whether Pro is active, so it works offline.
You can delete all of this at any time by removing the extension.
When data leaves your browser
- Search what you see (Google Lens). When you select an area and click "Search with Google", only that selected image is sent to Google Lens to show you results. Google's privacy policy applies to that search.
- Save to Google Drive. The first time you use it, Grablet asks for permission and you sign in with Google. Grablet uses Google's limited "drive.file" access, which only lets it see files Grablet itself creates. Your screenshot is uploaded to a "Grablet" folder in your own Drive. We never see your files or your Google password.
- Buying Pro. Payments are handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe. They receive your email address and payment details to process your purchase and to confirm your Pro status. Your card number is handled by Stripe and never reaches Grablet.
Text from image
The text recognition engine is built into the extension and runs entirely on your computer. Images you read text from are never uploaded.
Microphone and screen recording
Screen recording starts only when you click "Start recording" and choose what to share in Chrome's own window. The microphone is used only if you turn it on, and only while recording. Recordings are saved to your computer and are never uploaded by Grablet.
Permissions Grablet asks for
- activeTab and scripting: to capture the page you're on when you click Grablet or use a shortcut.
- storage: to save your settings and recent captures on your computer.
- identity (optional): requested only if you use Save to Google Drive.
Children
Grablet is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the extension's update notes.
